Winton chalked up their most impressive result for many a year against Kello at Winton Park which was epitomised by the home side playing some magical football.

The opening period on a glorious day for football saw both sides testing each other out but neither keeper was troubled.

Kello took the lead on 11 minutes when Wilson failed to clear a ball and Graham Wark nipped in to fire in a tremendous shot that Robertson parried but the loose ball came off the bar and the ever alert Andrew Rae nipped in to tuck home the ball.  Winton got back on level terms fairly sharply three minutes later when Colin Frye knocked a ball behind the right full back for McAvoy to chase and his cut back was met by Graham Muir.  Despite these two goals the game was fairly even in the first half without too much to trouble either defence but chances were few and far between with cut backs from the bye line being missed.  The turning point in the game probably came in 38 minutes when Andrew Rae saw a 20 yard effort cannon off the bar and the home side cleared but the home side went ahead after this scare when Gallagher got to the bye line and this time McAvoy met his cut back and he cleverly allowed the ball run underneath him before back healing the ball past Grozier to give the Ardrossan side the lead.

Winton continued to press into the second half and a Billy Easton effort from a corner on the right was actually cleared by a Winton player but the pressure continued on the visitors defence but some of the final efforts on the Kello goal could have been better early in the second half.

The home side extended their lead on 61 minutes when a nice ball down the left saw McAvoy run on and beat Grozier who came out for the block and cut the ball back to Scott Adam who rifled the ball high into the net.  On 67 minutes Grozier pulled off a magnificent save to deny Paul Monan who got free on the right and hit a great volley that the visiting keeper turned past the post.  Winton went 4 – 1 up on 68 minutes when McAvoy nipped in to take the ball off the Kello defence and he in turn passed to Adam who threaded a ball to Gallagher and he chipped a delightful ball past Grozier. It was soon was 5  - 1 a minute later when McAvoy set up an easy chance for Davidson to tap in. The goals were raining in as by the 70th minute it was 6 – 1 when Graeme Patterson ran in on goal and this time he hit a low shot in at the near post beating the Kello keeper.

Winton were reluctant to hold back and Colin Frye forced another decent save from Grozier who got on the end of his dipping shot.  Davidson got another chance to extend the lead on 74 minutes when he controlled a cross which allowed him to run in on goal but his shot across the keeper came off the far post and despite the efforts of McAvoy to retrieve the ball Kello cleared the danger.  Andrew Rae had an effort on goal in 75 minutes as Kello tried to reduce the deficit but it was too straight at Robertson. Winton went  7- 1 ahead on 80 minutes when Davidson broke free on the left and he crossed for McAvoy to hit the ball high past Grozier.  McAvoy was not denied his hattrick when a through ball by Gallagher saw his initial effort blocked by Grozier but he remained calm and knocked the rebound past the keeper to make it 8 – 1 for the home side.
