Beith got the three points but Winton ran them close in a compelling
tie at
Winton’s Patterson put in a good ball to Reid who forced a good save from Tiropolous on 18 minutes. Beith almost took the lead on 26 minutes when Arbuckle got free and fired in a good shot but O’Neill in the Rovers goal did well to block. Spence saw a free kick for Beith go past the post on 30 minutes.
Lee McShane got the goal to give Beith the lead on 59 minutes when he dived low to meet a good cross in from the right to power the ball home. Winton didn’t lie down to this set back and following a corner on the right the ball eventually fell to David Wilson who powered his way to the bye line only to see his progress halted by Sheridan who tripped him up for the penalty a minute later. Colin Frye took the spot kick and dispatched in style to give the Ardrossan side the equaliser.
Winton almost snatched the lead when a corner on the right after 70 minutes was headed onto the bar by former Beith man Billy Easton. Wintons’ O’Neill was called into action shortly after this to deny Kenny McLean with a good block. Beith did get the decisive goal on 75 minutes when a cross ball in from the left was partially cleared and Chris Kerr met the ball with a dipping volley in at the neat post to give Beith the points.
