Winton got their first points of the section against Buffs who ran Winton close with a much improved second half from the visitors.  The Buffs’ John Mason lined up a shot in 2 minutes but it was straight into the arms of Stevie O’Neill.  Winton almost took the lead when Reid got on the end of pass from Gallagher but he couldn’t get the finish to trouble Keith Ross. Winton did take the lead on 7 minutes when Colin Frye threaded a good ball down the left for Reid to run in and from a narrow angle he curled the ball into the far corner.  James Tyler worked a good one two to get himself free on the right in 12 minutes but he snatched at his shot which went past the near post.  Winton went 2 up in 22 minutes when Reid turned creator getting free in the box and cutting the ball back to the unmarked Scott Adam who side footed the ball high into net from 6 yards.  Tyler tried his luck on 28 minutes running at the Rovers defence but he had too much elevation on his chip and it went over. Graham Muir got a shot away on 32 minutes but Ross made the save.  O’Neill denied Tyler, who was showing his running power, on 37 minutes getting down low to hold the ball.  Winton were getting pushed back as the interval approached and the Buffs did get the ball in the net but it was chalked off for offside. Buffs started well in the second half and got a goal back in 50 minutes when Nikki Smith got plenty of space in the box but he still produced a good finish curling a shot high past O’Neill. Winton extended their lead on 61 minutes when Reid again turned provider cutting the ball back for Muir to send a left foot shot past Ross.  O’Neill tipped a low drive past the post on 75 minutes as Winton began to defend a bit deeper.  Winton gave the ball away in midfield allowing Tyler to run in and this time he got his shot away which went under O’Neill and into the net to give Buffs hope.  Winton had a couple of chances on the break and as the final whistle approached and Reid set up McAvoy who ran in and tried to chip the ball in at the back post and as Hamilton tried to make sure Buffs got back to clear the ball for a corner.
